Carmenere IGT

Carmenere is an intense and enveloping wine, it is a clone of Cabernet Franc and Gros Cabernet. 100% pure, it is obtained from grapes grown in Acque di Lonigo (just above the Convento dei Frati). Medium-bodied fruity, intense and enveloping on the nose, with a deep ruby color. Releases a bouquet of spices and black fruits of the forest, accompanied by notes of chocolate. On the palate it is soft and persistent, with a delicate tannin that goes well with grilled meats, cured meats and cheeses.

Our Carmenere is produced with grapes selected and cultivated with the utmost care, to obtain a superior quality organic wine.

    THE VINEYARD

Carmenère is a natural cross between Cabernet franc and Gros Cabernet, an ancient variety from Bordeaux and its surroundings, and arrived on the Berici hills in the 19th century, as is the case with other French varieties. From a viticultural point of view it is a vigorous variety, characterized by a lower than average fertility of the buds, with medium-sized berries and a blue-black skin. It has high concentrations of methoxypyrazines, which can produce strong herbaceous or green pepper notes.

    CULTIVATION
    and production

The grapes are grown in the Berici Hills and harvested manually in the second ten days of September. The grapes are left to macerate with their skins until the end of November. After racking, the refinement takes place in steel and towards March the wine is bottled and corked with Cork.
